Our services
Whittier homes were built over more than a hundred years, so the first job is figuring out what's actually installed: a one-piece tilt-up, an old extension-spring door, or a newer torsion setup. The tech inspects all of it and writes up the price before starting.
Most requested Torsion and extension springs replaced and balanced to your door's weight, so the opener isn't doing the lifting.

Garage door service in Whittier
Whittier was founded by Quakers in 1887 and named for the poet John Greenleaf Whittier. Its oldest streets, around Greenleaf Ave and Philadelphia St, still have Craftsman bungalows and period revival homes, many with detached garages at the back of the lot.
North of Whittier Blvd the land rises toward the Puente Hills, and neighborhoods like Friendly Hills have curved streets, larger lots and sloped driveways. Toward the south and east, much of the housing is post-war single-story tract homes with attached two-car garages.

Why Whittier homeowners choose us
Whittier is north of our Lakewood shop, a straight run up the 605. The crew that covers Norwalk and Santa Fe Springs covers Whittier too, and you can reach the Lakewood office at (562) 541-0018.
Straightforward process
Tell us what the door is doing and pick a time. Let us know your city and whether the door is open, closed or stuck, so we send the right tech with the right parts.
We inspect the whole system, explain what failed, and give you a written price with options for your budget. Nothing starts until you approve it.
We do the work with quality parts, test the door and safety sensors, and your repair is covered by our warranty.
Whittier garage doors
A lot of Whittier's older detached garages were framed for wood swing-up doors. When those doors give out, the opening is often out of square or shorter than today's standard sizes, so we measure carefully and adjust the jambs and header trim before hanging a sectional door.
In the hillside neighborhoods, a heavy carriage-style or insulated door on a sloped slab needs springs balanced for its real weight and a bottom seal that follows the floor. In the flatter tract areas, the usual calls are worn rollers, frayed cables and openers near the end of their life.

Whittier sits farther inland than our coastal service areas, so summer afternoons run hotter and drier. That heat dries out weather stripping and lubricant, and Santa Ana wind days push dust into tracks and rollers.
Once-a-year service keeps a door like that in shape: we clean and lube the moving parts, check the springs and cables for wear, tighten the hinges and test the opener's safety reverse.

Common garage door problems
FAQs
Still unsure? A technician can talk you through it on the phone.
Yes. We remove the one-piece door and its hardware, check the framing around the opening, and fit a sectional door that runs on tracks. Sectional doors work with modern openers and safety sensors, which most old swing-up doors can't.
We do. On a sloped slab we trim or replace the bottom seal so it meets the ground evenly, and we set the opener's limits so the door stops where it should.
Heat dries out the grease on rollers, hinges and the opener's rail, and the metal parts start to rub. Lubrication often quiets it. If the rollers themselves are worn, new nylon rollers usually fix the noise.
Leave it closed. The springs carry the door's weight, and without one the door can be too heavy to control. Disconnect the opener if it keeps trying to run and call our Lakewood shop at (562) 541-0018.
